Qld: Foreign students get more than they bargained for
More than 100 foreign students planning to study at the James Cook University in Townsvillehave been lectured on how to survive.
They've been told to look out for lethal jellyfish, keep an eye out for crocs and havebeen warned they'll be sharing their campus with two of the three most poisonous snakespecies in the world.
CARRIE ZABKAR, a 20-year-old Environmental Studies student from New York state saysinternational students will be all right as long as they stick to designated paths.
But she says she's too scared to go swimming.
International Student Centre director ROBERT COELEN says students thinking about studyingin the north are most concerned about creepy crawlies.
He says by tackling the issue in a lighthearted way, it allays the students' fears.
