NSW: Doctor assaulted in Parramatta
A doctor was assaulted and robbed walking from his surgery in Sydney's west overnight.
Police say the 44-year-old doctor was walking from his surgery in Parramatta when hewas approached from behind by two men on Lennox Street.
A police spokesman says the offenders, one armed with a knife, assaulted the man causinghim to fall to the ground.
He says they pair escaped with the doctor's bag, containing his general practioner's equipment.
Witnesses contacted police and rushed to help the injured man, who suffered cuts to his head.
He was taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
Several witnesses were interviewed last night, but police have urged anyone else whomight have seen the incident to contact Parramatta Police or Crime Stoppers.
